home qth                       My hobby, Short Wave Listener!

My home-QTH with the locator: JO61CU is located in the city center of Dessau-Roßlau. As I am connected with the local union in the city of Dessau-Roßlau.
I have the DOK W 18 .
When I was 14 I began to construct my first 'detector' with a silicon crystal. After I finished school I successfully passed my first listener's examination in the Community for Sports and Technology in the GDR and received the listener's call sign Y2 EA-14711/H46. After a few years I successfully passed the next listener's examination and was known under Y46-15H on the waves with self-made appliances, such as short-wave-receiver AFE 12 (RX for 160 m and 80 m) with a 40-m converter and a SSH for 2m QRV.
A self made "Z 1013" with a decoder from a stereo PLL decoder A910 served for the reception of the first RTTY signals.
Before 1900 I had such a professional situation that I could not get a ham radio sign. Now, though, I have been a reception amateur for over 36 years out of passion. Nowadays I occupy myself almost exclusively with the reception of digital operation modes.
For some time now, I have been a
member of  The European PhaseShiftKeying Club      My membership number is here EPC#088L, meine EU Area ist GM08            My membership number is here EPC#088L, meine EU Area ist GM08

As a receiver of short waves I employ YAESU FRG 100 with the antenna-adjustment appliance FRT 7700, and on top of it alternatively the active antenna FRA 7700 or a FD 4 Horizontal.
For the 2m frequency range the right thing is the ALLmode (T)RX from Kennwood TR 751-E, with a 5/8 GP with 3 radials on the house roof 15 m approximately above ground level.
As I engage in my hobby in my small garden during summer months, here I use alternatively for the short wave a Windom 25 long, or the active antenna FRA 7700 by Yaesu. The 2 m-frequency range is received with a 5/8 GP with 3 radials and a HB9CV
The Notebook SONY Vario with its 2 Gz and 512 MB RAM is responsible for the management of the receiver and for the decoding of digital signals.
The decoder software which I use is really very variable:
Mix32 as a registered version and the program MultiPSK is a good choice for the most digital operation modes.
With the program ARMAP32 I regulate the QSO's that are being received.
Over the span of my activity as a listener I have worked with a lot of countries and DOKs, in order to be able to apply for diplomas .It's only a pity that one does not find a lot of attention as a SWL with the OM's, and for this reason the QSL-attitude of the OM's towards the SWLs is pretty bad. Out of around 3500
QSL cards sent through the DARC Office or eQSL over the years, only few were responded to by the OM's. If one comes to think that. For this reason I have been able to regard only very few connections as completely worked-out and processed to date.
I am wishing good connections to all the visitors of my homepage at all times.
